Steps to test the Alarm


Testing your Xfinity alarm every month will help you to ensure that it is working properly. It has an alarm test mode that you can use while changing the batteries of your devices.


1. Call Central Monitoring Station at 800-455-1207, to inform them that you're going to test the system alarm.


2. Check how your Touchscreen Controller looks.


3. Type Master Keypad Code.


4. Tap on Security option from the categories screen.


5. Select Alarm Test option from the Security screen.


6. Tap on Disabled option. This will enable messaging. Then click on the Next option.


7. You are almost there.

  • Ensure that all windows and doors with the sensor are not open and all the motion sensors that have not been used for about 2 minutes.


8. Tap on Alarm.

  • An alert beep will ring and this will change the system settings from Arm to System Armed.
  • The exit delay of the system is 10 sec long.


9. Tap on Next.


10. Trip the sensor to check and test every security zone:

  • Window/Door: Open and then close the door or window.
  • Motion Detector: Avoid the view of the motion detector for 2 minutes, after you alarmed the system, and then, take a walk in front of the motion detector.
  • Smoke Detector: Press and then hold the test button of the sensor for about 20 seconds or until the siren rings.
  • Keychain Remote: Arm and then disarm it using the Keychain remote.
  • Key Pad: Arm and then disarm the system through the key pad.


11. Now you can watch the zones which you have tripped. Tap on Disarm while testing zones.


12. Tap on the 'Next'.


13. Now check that your system worked properly

  • Review every alarm according to the zones.
  • Confirm that you are notified through the text messages or email.
  • While you enabled the test alarm messages, connect with Central Monitoring Station at 800-455-1207 and ask them about the received alarm. If they have received all the alarms, it means testing is finished.


14. Tap on Return to the menu and get back to the settings menu.
